Bishop California is a sportsman’s paradise. At least thats what I have heard. In the fall, winter, and spring Bishop is one of the best places in the world to be. The fall is filled with colors. The winter has great temperatures and lots of California sunshine. The spring brings longer days, lots of water, and access to the high country.

A climber can find a lot of roped climbing here.

The Owens River Gorge has near 800 one pitch sport climbs. 5.11 heaven? Maybe, but the Gorge offers climbing for everyone except the 5.14 happy climber. The rock is vertical, volcanic, and pocketed.

The Cardinal Pinnacle area offers high sierra granite in a beautiful setting. Up to 4 pitch climbs here with an easy approach.

Pine Creek, home of the famous Pratts Crack, has quality granite sport climbs. This area stays cool enough even in the summer heat. Most clip bolts here, but try one of the multi pitch easy crack climbs. When in the area also check out Little Egypt and headnorth to Rock Creek and the High Sierra or south to the Alabama Hills and the Mt. Whitney area. Cardinal Pinnacle Trip Report:
